WBB Finishes Season as MCCAA Champs

The Kellogg Community College women's basketball team won recently completed their most successful seasons in almost two decades. Under the direction of Head Coach Sal Konkle, in her second season at the helm, the Bruins were Michigan Community College Athletic Association Western Conference Champions, and won 20+ games for the first time since 2007! Additionally, the Bruins hosted and won a Great Lakes District A playoff game.

The KCC Women's Basketball team has improved to a nine-game win streak to continue the best start of the season in more than 10 years! The Bruins are currently 14-3 after starting conference play at an undefeated 4-0. They've topped Southwestern Michigan, KVCC, Glen Oaks and Lake Michigan so far in conference play.

The KCC Women's Basketball team is on a five-game win streak and off to the best start of the season in more than 10 years! The Bruins are currently 10-3 heading into conference play this week. Following some dominating wins and some gutsy ones, conference play should be an exciting time for Bruins WBB.

The KCC Women's Basketball team hosted Jackson College on Wednesday, Dec. 6th. The Jackson Jets are nearly undefeated this season, and the Bruins battled with them all game. Ultimately the Bruins fell to the Jets 79-63.

The KCC Women's Basketball team played three games on the road this week, and came home with three wins! They topped the University of Olivet JV 65-54, and then headed north for the weekend. The Bruins came home from up north with big wins: 100-50 at North Central Michigan College and 72-47 at Kirtland Community College.

The KCC Women's Basketball team began competition earlier this month under the direction of Head Coach Sal Konkle. This will be Coach Konkle's second season at the helm, and she is excited for the growth the program is already seeing. The team is 2-1 to start the 2023-24 season.

44 Bruins & Four Teams Earn MCCAA, NJCAA Academic Awards

The Michigan Community College Athletic Association (MCCAA) and National Junior College Athletic Association announced their 2022-2023 academic awards, and 44 Bruins and four teams were named among the honorees. To earn MCCAA or NJCAA All-Academic Team honors, a team must achieve a 3.0+ team GPA in the current academic year. NJCAA All-Academic Team individual honorees must achieve 3.60 GPA or higher for each respective team. Academic All-Conference honors are earned by student-athletes who post a 3.0+ GPA and pass 24 credit hours during the current academic year. Academic All-MCCAA honors are earned by those with a 3.2+ GPA and 24 credit hours passed during the current academic year.

Your KCC women's basketball team went 1-1 this week, hosting Lansing CC on Wednesday, Feb, 1st and Ancilla College on Saturday, Feb. 4th. After a heartbreaking loss on Wednesday against Lansing, your Bruins took charge against Ancilla Saturday afternoon.

Bruins Split at Skippers Holiday Classic

The KCC women's basketball team split their weekend at the SC4 Skippers Holiday Classic. Friday afternoon they faced off against a strong Mid Michigan College team, losing with a final of 79-31. Saturday morning, your Bruins bounced back with a big win over Alpena Community college, 49-44.

The KCC women's basketball team notched the second win of the season Tuesday as they traveled to face the host team Kirtland Community College. Bruins won with a final score of 46-37.

The KCC women's basketball team opened the 2022-23 season with the win at home on Wednesday night. They faced off against the visiting Lions of Community Christian College from Detroit. This game was Coach Sal Konkle's first win as the head coach for the Bruins.

Women's Basketball Opens Season at Home

Kellogg Community College women's basketball team opens their season tonight at home vs. Community Christian College. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. and admission is free.  The KCC women's basketball team enters a new regime as local coach, Sal Konkle takes over. Sal Konkle, formerly the coach at Marshall High School, is excited for the journey ahead. Joining her on staff are Tierra (Orban) Konkle and Alex Holley.

The women’s basketball team won its first game of the season Saturday against Lansing Community College. All of the Bruins scored and together they won with a final score of 59-56.
