WBB Off to Best Start in Over a Decade
The KCC Women's Basketball team is on a five-game win streak and off to the best start of the season in more than 10 years! The Bruins are currently 10-3 heading into conference play this week. Following some dominating wins and some gutsy ones, conference play should be an exciting time for Bruins WBB.
The Bruin's offense this year is led by first-year guard, Kaylee Glidden (Battle Creek/Pennfield) who is leading the Nation in points per game with 26.3 ppg. She is followed by 5 more Bruins all scoring 7+ ppg: Shayla Ardis (Battle Creek/BC Central) with 12.8 ppg, Corrin Replogle (Middleville/Thornapple Kellogg) with 12.7 pgg, Mary Whitmore (Dowling/Delton Kellogg) with 9.3 pgg, Alana Compton (Middleville/Thornapple Kellogg) with 8.1ppg, and Cheria Richardson (Battle Creek/BC Central) with 7.0 ppg. Replogle is setting up the offense as well, dishing out 6.3 ast/g.
Leading the defense are 4 Bruins nabbing 6+ boards per game led by Ardis with 10.5 reb/g, followed by Whitmore with 7.8 reb/g, Compton with 7.5 reb/g, and Glidden with 6.5reb/g. Glidden and Richardson are both grabbing 3+ steals per game.
After her first full year of recruiting, Head Coach Sal Konkle has led this group to a strong start - notching 10 wins in the preseason for the first time in over a decade. This team is one to keep your eye on as MCCAA play begins this week.
The Bruin's next home game is Jan. 20th at 1:00 p.m. vs. Kalamazoo Valley Community College.
