2024 Region XII and MCCAA Baseball Awards
The Michigan Community College Athletic Association (MCCAA) and NJCAA Region XII have released the 2024 Post-Season Baseball Awards. Ten Bruins notched awards, including All-Region XII, Region XII Tournament Team, All-MCCAA, Western Conference Player of the Year, Western Conference First and Second Teams, and Western Conference Honorable Mention. Additionally, Coach Eric Laskovy was named the MCCAA and the Great Lakes District Coach of the Year.
Sophomore, second baseman, Aaron Piasecki was named All-Region XII, All-MCCAA, Western Conference Player of the Year and Western Conference First Team. He led the team, and is ranked fourth nationally with a .481 AVG, fifth nationally with .582 OBP, and second nationally with 26 doubles. Piasecki had 65RBIs on 87 hits, with 61 runs, and a .953 fielding percentage.
Sophomore, pitcher, Gavin Beuter was named All-Region XII, All-MCCAA, and Western Conference First Team. Beuter finished the year 9-4 ranked 12th nationally in wins, and 13th Nationall with 14 starts. He pitched 78.0 innings with a 3.00 ERA, 1.10 WHIP, and 87Ks on the season.
Sophomore, relief pitcher, Jake Ickes was named All-Region XII, All-MCCAA, and Western Conference First Team. Ickes finished the year 3-0 and ranked third nationally with 10 saves. He pitched 42.0 innings with a 1.29 ERA, 0.69 WHIP, and 49Ks on the season.
Sophomore, outfielder, Cody Hultink was named MCCAA Western Conference Second Team. Hultink finished the season with a .374 AVG, 36 RBI, ranked 19th nationally with 69 runs, had 19 SB, and a 1.000 fielding percentage.
Sophomore, pitcher, Henry Stempky was named MCCAA Western Conference Second Team and to the NJCAA Region XII Tournament Team. Stempky finished the season 8-2 with 13 starts, 50.1 IP, 3.40 ERA, 1.09 WHIP and 58Ks.
Freshman, pitcher, Joshua Midbo was named MCCAA Western Conference Second Team. Midbo was 7-1 on the year with 51.0 IP, 3.00 ERA, 1.52WHIP and 43Ks.
Sophomore, catcher, Diego Pena was named MCCAA Western Conference Second Team and to the NJCAA Region XII Tournament Team. Pena finshed the season with a .331 WVG, 4 HR, 55 RBI, 304 PO on 318 chances, .997 fielding percentage with only one error. He ranks in the top 20 nationally with 16 runners caught stealing.
Sophomore, utility player, Jacob Martin was named MCCAA Western Conference Honorable Mention and to the NJCAA Region XII Tournament Team. Martin finshed the season with .341 AVG, 47 RBI, 65 R, and 28 SB.
Sophomore, relief pitcher, Cameron Reichel was named MCCAA Western Conference Honorable Mention. Reichel finished the year 5-1 with zero starts, and notched 3 saves. He pitched 39.0 innings with a 3.00 ERA, 1.18 WHIP, and 38Ks.
Freshman, outfielder, Grant Welch was named the NJCAA Region XII Tournament MVP. In the Region Tournament he went 8-12 with 5 RBI, one HR, and two 2B.
