Soccer Falls in District Championship

Soccer Falls in District Championship

The Kellogg Community College soccer team finished their season at home on Friday, November 8 in the Great Lakes District Championship game. The Bruins battled hard with the #3 team in the country, but fell to Heartland in the end.

Heartland | L, 2-0

Head Coach Levi Butcher said, " We had a tall task in front of us in today's Great Lakes District Final, and I'm extremely proud of our performance! Though we came out on the short end of the 0-2 scoreline, this group of players battled the #3 team in the nation tooth and nail and gave them a difficult game."

Butcher continued, "Limiting a team as good as Heartland (116 goals scored through 19 games heading into today) to two goals is a feat in itself. The determination and grit our squad showed was key to giving ourselves a chance to keep the score tight and try to go find a winner. We're grateful for the support from the campus community, family and friends, and especially the other KCC athletes who came out to create an amazing atmosphere as we hosted a District Final for the first time ever. We are disappointed we couldn't give our Bruin family a win today, but very proud of our effort!"
