Bio
Coach Laskovy is entering his 25th year of being involved in the Kellogg Community College baseball program. He is in his 18th year as the head coach. Over the course of his tenure, the Bruins won several championships, including 13 MCCAA Conference titles — in 2007, 2008, 2010, 2012, 2013, 2015, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2021, 2022, 2023, and 2024 — and seven regional championships resulting in trips to the NJCAA Division II World Series — in 2007, 2009, 2011, 2015, 2019, 2021 and 2024. The Bruins finished National Runner-Up in 2007. Laskovy has notched MCCAA Coach of the year 12 times - in 2007, 2008(Co), 2012, 2013, 2015, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2021, 2022(Co), 2023(Co), and 2024 and holds a 634-291 overall record.
The Bruins have sent over 180 student-athletes on to high level four-year institutions across the country (Next Level Bruins). Under Laskovy's leadership, KCC Baseball has never held a losing record, or failed to qualify for the NJCAA Region XII Tournament which serves as the opening round of the World Series. In addition, 14 former players drafted or signed to professional contracts during his tenure.
Kellogg Baseball has been honored numerous times as an NJCAA All-Academic team, maintaining a cumulative team GPA of 3.0 or higher. The 2023 Conference Championship Bruins posted a team GPA of 3.48 with 21 players above a 3.0 GPA, and 13 NJCAA Academic All-Americans(3.6 GPA or higher).
“We are extremely proud of the balance we have created on and off the field,” Coach Laskovy says. “Our student athletes’ commitment to academics, athletics and the community has shown in the amount of players who have transferred to and been successful at the next level.”
After transferring from Kalamazoo Valley Community College, Laskovy was a two-year starter in baseball at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in Health Science. In 2001, Laskovy earned a master’s degree in Physical Education from Western Michigan University. From 2006 to 2012, Laskovy worked as an Associate Scout with the Cincinnati Reds.
Along with coaching the Bruins, Laskovy teaches full-time in the Physical Education Department at KCC. He and his wife Shannon and daughter Kellin reside in Battle Creek.
