Baseball Finishes 5th at World Series

The Kellogg Community College baseball team traveled to Enid, Oklahoma beginning on May 24th for the 2025 NJCAA DII World Series. Bruins won their way there for the second consecutive season, sweeping the Region 12 tournament! While in Enid, the Bruins went 2-2 finishing 5th in the Nation. 

The Bruins came into the tournament the 10 seed (12 teams total) and pulled off the first round upset over (7) Southeastern CC on Saturday, May 24 with an 8-1 victory. Late in the game, the Bruins trailed 0-1, but in the top of the 8th they rallied to put 8 runs on the board securing the victory!

Waiting to play the Bruins on Sunday, May 25 was (2) Pearl River CC who had an opening round bye. The Bruins battled with the Wildcats, even earning the first run of the game, but Pearl River opened it up in the 5th inning and took the game 11-3.

The Bruins played an elimination bracket game against (11) Catawba Valley CC on Monday, May 26 where they topped the Red Haws 10-1. The Bruins secured a 4-run lead early and continued to add to it as the game went on. 

In their final game at the tournament, the Bruins faced off against (7) Southeastern CC for another elimination game on Tuesday, May 27. The Bruins held the game close through 5 innings, and rallied with a 2-run homer in the 6th. They battled until the very end, with the bases loaded and the game tying run at the plate in the 9th inning. 

The Bruins finished their season 40-15, with back to back Region 12 titles and 40-win seasons with 11 Bruins earning Post-season awards from the MCCAA and NJCAA Region 12.
