Bio
Coach Don Ampersee joined the KCC Baseball staff prior to the 2024 season and brings his knowlege and experience to the team.
Baseball has been his passion since he was 8 years old. Ampersee played collegiately for two years at KVCC and finished his college degree at Western Michigan University. He then played sandlot baseball until age 29, when he stepped back to focus on his work at the United Parcel Service.
Ampersee retired from UPS in 2000, and it allowed him to step back into the world of baseball. He then coached high school baseball for 22 years at Portage Central, Otsego, and most recently Portage Northern. Additionally, he has been coaching summer baseball with the Kalamazoo Maroons since 2000.
Ampersee and his wife Connie have been married for 48 years. He is originally from Kalamazoo, however he and his wife have resided in Plainwell since 1978. Together, they have two sons and a daughter - Matthew, Nick, and Ashley. They also have 2 grandsons, a granddaughter, and a heavenly grandson.
