Women's and Men's XC are Region Champions

The Kellogg Community College cross country teams competed in the MCCAA Championships and the NJCAA Region 12 DIII Championships simultaneously. Both the Men's and Women's teams came home with a Regional Championship. This is the first regional championship for the men's team in 6 years and first regional championship for the women's team since 2021.

Women's Race

On the MCCAA side of things, the Bruins finished 10th of 21 league teams. Sophomore Brenna Withers finished 22nd of 100 runners with a PR (personal record) time of 21:10. Her time puts her the 15th fastest NJCAA DIII time in the nation this season. Withers also finished 2nd in the NJCAA Region 12 DIII race and received All-Region honors for her effort today. Freshman Chloe Badger also was on the All-Region team with a solid 3rd place performance in the NJCAA Region 12 DIII portion of the race. Freshman Jaiden Anderson also had a PR with a time of 26:18 and the third PR for the day came from Freshman Kirsten Wedding with a time of 28:02. The Bruin team time qualified the team to participate at the National Championship in two weeks.

Men's Race

The men's team finished 6th of 21 MCCAA teams. Freshman Julian Borst once again led the Bruins, finishing 14th in the race of 118 runners. His finish put him on the All-MCCAA Team in the race. Borst finished 1st in the NJCAA Region 12 DIII race and received All-Region honors, and he still holds the 3rd fastest time in the nation at the NJCAA DIII level as we prepare for the national champion race. Sophomore Alex Steward also was on the All-Region team with a 3rd place performance in the NJCAA Region 12 DIII portion of the race. Freshman Bruno Cabrera had a PR (28:56) on a tough course that didn't yield many fast times today.

Next up, Bruins travel to Richmond, Virginia for the NJCAA National Championship race on November 9. The Bruins enter the national championship race as the 4th ranked men's team in the nation and the 6th ranked women's team in the nation.
