Volleyball Concludes in Post-Season Play

The Kellogg Community College volleyball team concluded their season in the NJCAA Great Lakes District B Tournament, Nov. 2-4, 2023. This year marks the first since 2017 that the volleyball team has qualified for post-season play. The Bruins went 1-2 at the tournament, and four team members notched MCCAA Post-Season Awards. 

Nov. 2: Mott| L, 0-3

Stat Leaders: Gabrianna Kringle - 8 kills, 17 digs; Jillian Clary - 7 kills; Julia May - 20 assists; Antonia Keith - 1 solo block, 3 block assist; Kate Doyle - 22 digs

Nov. 3: Bay | W, 3-0 

Stat Leaders: Gabrianna Kringle - 14 kills; Julia May - 16 assists; Alaina Brubaker - 14 assists, 18 digs; Ella Kohuth - 2 solo blocks, 3 block assist; Kate Doyle - 20 digs

Nov. 3: Lake Michigan | L, 0-3

Stat Leaders: Jillian Clary - 9 kills, 2 solo block; Gabrianna Kringle - 5 kills, 18 digs; Julia May - 13 assists, 18 digs; Alaina Brubaker - 10 assists; Kate Doyle - 21 digs 

Head Coach, Judy Mason is excited for the growth the team had this year and is looking forward to continuing into next season. "The Bruins set a season goal to make the post-season and we accomplished that! This team has worked hard and moved beyond challenges to achieve their post-season goal, and winning a game in the process."

Four Bruins were acknowledged by the Conference for their efforts on the court this season. The following players were named post-season award winners:

  • Sophomore outside hitter Jordyn Arnold (Mattawan/Mattawan High School), MCCAA All-Western Conference Honorable Mention
  • Sophomore outside hitter Jillian Clary (Tecumseh/Tecumseh High School), MCCAA All-Western Conference Honorable Mention
  • Freshman outside hitter Gabrianna Kringle (Kalamazoo/Galesburg-Augusta High School), MCCAA All-Western Conference First Team, MCCAA Western Conference All-Freshman Team
  • Freshman setter Julia May (Charlotte/Charlotte High School), MCCAA All-Western Conference Honorable Mention
