Soccer Rolls Past Lakeland

The Kellogg Community College women's soccer team hosted Lakeland Community College on Friday, September 1. Bouncing back from a 0-4 defeat at #4 Delta College on Wednesday, the Bruins rolled Lakeland 8-0 on Friday.

Lakeland Community College | W, 8-0

Aubrey Phenicie had the leadoff goal, off an assist from Sophia Saunders and Annabelle Smith in minute 10. Backing her up in the 13th minute was Annabelle Smith on a PK rebound. Smith came through again from Lydia Schamanek at 27 minutes, followed by Emilia Braman's goal from Schamanek in minute 28. After the half, Smith scored on a ball from Allison Dietzel and Lucy Lampart, completing her hat trick in 60 minutes. Sophia Saunders then scored from Schamanek two minutes later. Phenicie then had back to back goals to finish the match, one unassisted and one from Smith, to complete her hat trick.

Coach Butcher said, "Today was a complete team effort, and a very convincing win. Our two hat tricks, one for Bella Smith and one for Aubrey Phenicie, doesn't tell the full story. Our entire group worked so hard for one another, and they can be very proud of their effort just two days after falling to Delta, one of the best teams in the nation." Butcher continued, "Sophia Saunders got off the mark with her first collegiate goal, and Emilia Braman added to her tally as well. Lydia Schamanek was exceptionally patient in the midfield, recording 3 assists. I also thought Jenna Vogel had her best game of the season at left back."

Bruins have some time off to rest, and plan to continue their momentum as they host St. Clair County Community College for a match on Saturday, September 9 at 1:00pm.
