Women's Basketball goes 1-1 on the Week

Your KCC women's basketball team went 1-1 this week, hosting Lansing CC on Wednesday, Feb, 1st and Ancilla College on Saturday, Feb. 4th. After a heartbreaking loss on Wednesday against Lansing, your Bruins took charge against Ancilla Saturday afternoon.

Leading the Bruins in Wednesday's one-point loss, was a double-double from Shayla Ardis (Battle Creek/Battle Creek Central) with 16 points and 13 rebounds. Haley Hinds (Quincy/Quincy) put up 10 points and grabbed 5 boards. Mary Whitmore (Dowling/Delton Kellogg) was just shy of a double-double with 9 points and 10 rebounds. Jaelyn Hampton (Napoleon/Napoleon) had 11 rebounds.

Coach said after the game, "Tonight was a tale of two halves. Our team worked hard to pull ahead early in the first half and head into halftime with the lead. We needed to play a cleaner second half than we did, and this game was ours."

Saturday, the Bruins bounced back and nabbed a 15 point win against Ancilla College. Leading the Bruins once again was Shayla Ardis (Battle Creek/Battle Creek Central) with 18 points and 10 rebounds. Mary Whitmore (Dowling/Delton Kellogg) also notched a double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds. Corrin Replogle (Middleville, MI / Thornapple Kellogg) added 13 points and 4 rebounds, and Jaelyn Hampton (Napoleon/Napoleon) had 9 points and 9 rebounds.

Coach Konkle said, "I am proud of the girls as they have stayed with our goals and have learned from prior games. They continue to improve and are truly becoming a team. Today we outscored our opponents in every statistical category. That is how you win games!"

Next up, Bruins are on the road to Southwestern Michigan College on Feb. 11th at 1:00p.m. to take on the Roadrunners!
