Two Tough Games for Bruins WBB

The KCC women's basketball team had a tough week against two solid opponents, hosting Macomb Community College on Wednesday, Dec. 7th and traveling to Mid Michigan College on Saturday, Dec. 10th.

Leading the way for the Bruins against Macomb, freshman forward Mary Whitmore (Dowling/Delton Kellogg) who scored 6 points while grabbing 4 rebounds. Freshman forward Shayla Ardis (Battle Creek/Battle Creek Central) notched 5 points, 7 rebounds, 5 assists, 1 steal and 1 block. Rounding out top scorers is freshman guard Corrin Replogle (Middleville/Thornapple Kellogg) who also scored 5 points, with 3 rebounds and 1 assist.

"Tonight we needed to sustain our focus and effort from the first quarter throughout the game. Another learning experience for this group: consistency is key to playing a complete game," said Coach Konkle of Wednesday's game vs. Macomb.

Leading the Bruins in the Mid Michigan game on Saturday was freshman forward Sara Bruns (Kalamazoo/Portage Northern) with 8 points and 3 rebounds, 3 steals and a block. Freshman forward Mary Whitmore contributed 7 points, 7 rebounds and a steal. Freshman forward Shayla Ardis added 5 points, 8 rebounds, and 1 steal.

Coach Konkle said after Saturday's game, "At times today our team played with the intensity we need to be competitive. Now we need to sustain that intensity throughout the game."

Your Bruins are 3-6-0 overall. Next up, Bruins host Niagara County Community College on Dec. 16th at 5:30 p.m. at the Miller Building Gym. Admission is always free!
