The KCC women's basketball team opened the 2022-23 season with the win at home on Wednesday night. They faced off against the visiting Lions of Community Christian College from Detroit. This game was Coach Sal Konkle's first win as the head coach for the Bruins.

Leading the way for the Bruins was freshman forward, Shayla Ardis (Battle Creek/Battle Creek Central). Ardis notched 16 points and 8 rebound, just shy of the double-double. Two more Bruin were just shy of the double-double in freshman guard/forward Mary Whitmore (Dowling/Delton Kellogg), who knocked down 12 while taking in 9 rebounds and 4 steals, and sophomore guard/forward Maddie Edwards (Climax/Climax-Scotts), who sank 10 with 9 rebounds, and 3 steals. The final Bruin scoring double digits was freshman Corrin Replogle (Middleville/Thornapple Kellogg) who notched 12 for the Bruins while pulling in 5 rebounds and 2 steals.

Coach Konkle was proud of the efforts on the floor, stating, "Coming into this week our goal was to improve from last week's scrimmage and we definitely accomplished that. Tonight, was a great way to start our season and for us to continue to work our offensive and defensive systems as a group. Our dual sport players are working their way in, and we're looking forward to continuing to grow."

Your Bruins are 1-0-0 overall, and return to action on Saturday, Nov. 12th at home vs. Milwaukee Area Technical College. Tip-off is set for 1:00 p.m. and admission is free.
