Men's Bowling Opened Season Last Friday
The Bruin Men's Bowling team is back for the 2023 season and were excited to hit the lanes last Friday for their season opener. Head Coach Brad Morgan is excited for the season, as the men's team consists of mostly returners, and one newcomer.
Leading returner for the Bruins is sophomore Zachary Barker. Barker notched All-Region XII, All-MCCAA accolades last season. He's the high-average bowler from the 2022 season back to compete for his 3rd year with the Bruins. Coach said, "Zach gives the team a consistent look at the top of leaderboards."
Another a strong returner is sophomore Bryan Foote. Foote was MCCAA Bowler of the week, All-Region XII, and All-MCCAA last season. Coach said, "Bryan is a big-time contributor from the '22 team and we're happy he's back for another year with the Bruins!"
Robert Burns III is another piece of the puzzle from last year's team, who notched MCCAA Bowler of the week. Burns is looking to build on and up and down freshman season. Coach said, "Robbie is working hard to help lead the Bruins forward."
Also returning for the Bruins is Colin McDowell, who notched MCCAA Bowler of the week. All-Region XII, and All-MCCAA in the 2022 season. After a slow start to his second season with the Bruins, McDowell got hot for the Region XII Tournament. Coach said, "Colin is looking to continue his hot streak into a the 2023 season."
New to Bruin Bowling, is freshman Ryan Sturgeon, a standout bowler from a very successful Coldwater High School Program. Coach Morgan is excited to see how Ryan continues his success at the collegiate level.
The team opened play this past Friday, Jan. 6th at Marian University's Ancilla College for the first tournament of the year. Your Bruins placed second as a team, led by Zach Barker who had the High Game of 235, as well as High Series of 596.
