MBB Finishes Winningest Season Since 2007

The Kellogg Community College men's basketball recently completed their most successful seasons in almost two decades. Under the direction of Head Coach Steve Proefrock, in his second season at the helm, the team won 20+ games for the first time since 2007! Additionally, the Bruins played and won a Great Lakes District C playoff game.

The team is losing five sophomores: Jalen Jackson (Warren/Lakeshore), Sam Hoskin (Detroit/Renaissance), Tyreese Gardner (Kalamazoo/Comstock), Kolson Lycos (Webberville/Webberville), and J.M. Isaiah Moore (Three Rivers/Three Rivers).

Following the end of conference play, the Bruins traveled to Southwestern Michigan College for a playoff game, where they proved their worth, topping the Roadrunners 77-48. Coach said " [I am] so very proud of our effort and execution! This team has continued to exceed expectations and has made steady growth in the course of the season." The Bruins fell later that week in a battle with Hocking College in the semifinals of the Great Lakes District A tournament.

Following their season, the MCCAA recognized four Bruins for their efforts, naming them to All-Conference selections:

  • Sam Hoskin - Second Team All-Western Conference
  • Ke'Marion Tucker - Second Team All-Western Conference, Western Conference All-Freshman Team
  • Jakeem Cole - Third Team All-Western Conference, Western Conference All-Freshman Team
  • James M. Isaiah Moore - Western Conference Honorable Mention
