Your KCC men's basketball team faced off against two conference opponents this week, and came away with the "w" both times! Wednesday, Feb. 1st they hosted Lansing CC, and Saturday, Feb. 4th Ancilla College came to town.
On Wednesday, the Bruins were led by Brett White (Battle Creek/Battle Creek Central) with 25 points, 3 rebound, 3 assists, and 3 steals. Michael Cover (Fort Collins, CO/Fossil Ridge) was the next leading scorer with 12 points and 5 rebounds. Freshman, Sam Hoskin (Detroit/Renaissance) notche 14 rebounds, 7 points, and 3 steals.
After the game, Coach Proefrock said, "Really good win for us tonight. The crowd was great and we fed off their energy. Our defensive intensity and our ability to play both man and zone defense stifled Lansing's attack as we held them to 18 points in the first half. To Lansing's credit, they made a run in the second half, cutting the lead to only two. At that point we responded with really good offensive execution after a timeout and sealed the Victory."
Your Bruins played another great game Saturday, led by Sam Hoskin's 23 points, 5 rebounds, 3 assists, and 2 steals. Brett White followed closely behind, notching 22 points, 10 rebounds, 7 assists, and 2 steals. Michael Cover had 15 points and 2 rebounds, while Rasheed Dyson (Chicago, IL/Evergreen Park) had 10 points and 6 rebounds.
Coach said, "Great win tonight as we beat Ancilla 88-78 in front of a great home crowd. It was one of our best team wins on the year as everyone contributed. Sam Hoskin played his best game of the year filling the stat sheet with 23 points, 5 rebounds, 3 assists and two steals. Brett White came through with almost a triple-double as well."
Up next, Bruins travel to play at Southwestern Michigan College at 3:00 p.m. on Sat. Feb. 11th!
