The KCC men's basketball team won their 2022-23 season opener Wednesday night. They faced a tough Community Christian College team and bested them 90-76. This win marked the first win for Coach Steve Proefrock as head coach of the Bruins.
Leading the way for the Bruins was the double-double from sophomore guard/forward Brett White (Battle Creek/Battle Creek Central) who sank 30 with 13 boards, 2 assists, 1 steal and 1 block. Sophomore forward Rasheed Dyson (Chicago,IL/Evergreen Park) added another double-double for the team with 23 points, 11 rebounds and 2 assists. Rounding out the top scorers was sophomore Michael Cover (Fort Collins,CO/Fossil Ridge) who notched 15 with 5 rebounds.
From the bench, Bruins outscored their opponent with sophomore forward Solomon Patray III (Ypsilanti/AA Gabriel Richard) leading the way. Patray notched 6 points, 5 rebounds and 1 assist. Freshman guard Jalen Jackson (Warren/Lakeshore) scored 5 and dished out 5 assists while grabbing 2 rebounds.
Coach Proefrock was happy about the results he saw from his team, stating, "Tonight was a good start for us against a good Community Christian team. Overall I was pleased with our effort tonight, but we have to clean some things up both offensively and defensively before our next game vs. #4 nationally ranked Milwaukee Area Tech at home on Saturday."
Your Bruins are 1-0-0 overall, and return to action on Saturday, Nov. 12th at home vs. #4 Milwaukee Area Technical College. Tip-off is set for 3:00 p.m. following the women's game, and admission is free.
