Men's Basketball Opens Season at Home

Kellogg Community College men;'s basketball team opens their season tonight at home vs. Community Christian College. Tip-off is scheduled at 7:30 p.m. following the women's game and admission is free.  The KCC men's basketball team is under new leadership with Steve Proefrock at the helm. Proefrock will be assisted by Mohammed Albagami and James Moore. 

Coach Proefrock stated, "I am honored to be part of Kellogg Community College and its rich history of success. This year should be an exciting year for Bruin basketball as we have a very good mix of returners, transfers, and talented freshman."

Leading off the returning group is local talent Brett White (Battle Creek, Mich./Battle Creek Central. White was 1st Team All-conference, averaged 23 ppgs, 7 rebs, as a freshman last year. Coach said, "Brett is a multifaceted player who can do it all! He will be a strong leader for us again this year."

Backing up White, is sophomore Rasheed Dyson (Chicago, Ill./Evergreen Park) who notched 2nd team all-conference, sank 20 ppgs, and 9 rebs, as a freshman last year. Proefrock said, "Rasheed can score as well as defend and he is a very explosive player!"

Wrapping up leading returners, sophomore center Quentin Jones (Detroit, MIch./Madison Heights HS) notched 12 ppgs, 7 rebounds as a freshman last year. Other returners include Keelan Stricklen (Eastpoint, Mich./Eastpointe HS), Dahntae Bailey (Mendon, Mich./Mendon HS), and Solomon Patray (Ypsilanti, Mich./AA Gabriel Richard). 

Key newcomers include transfer Jordan Hogans (Niles, Mich./ Christ Church School). Proefrock said, "Jordan is an outstanding point guard who is explosive to the basket and can really pass!" Another key transfer is Michael Cover (Fort Collins, Co./Fossil Ridge HS) who coach said is a very good 2 guard who can dribble, pass, and shoot. Rounding out transfers is London Gillery (Detroit, Mich./Madison Heights). Proefrock said, "London is a transfer from Siena Heights University who is a very athletic scorer and rebounder."

Proefrock also brought in some strong freshman in Antonio Williams (Kalamazoo, Mich./Parchment HS) "Tony is a talented freshman who can shoot, score, pass and defend. He was DII All-State last year," said Proefrock. Sam Hoskin (Detroit, Mich./Renaissance HS) is another great addition as he is an extremely strong and explosive freshman who has a multi-dimensional game. Hoskin was All State as a freshman in high school. Finally, rounding out the roster is a speedy quick Jalen Jackson (Warren, Mich./Lakeshore HS) and strong Kolson Lycos (Webberville, Mich./Webberville HS). 

"Both on and off the court we will represent Kellogg Community College as true student athletes and make the Kellogg family proud of our accomplishments!," said Proefrock.
