Laskovy Notches Milestone 600 Wins

A doubleheader sweep in Ohio earlier in the month brought Kellogg Community College's decorated Head Baseball Coach Eric Laskovy to a record of 600 career wins coaching the Bruins.

Laskovy is in his 25th year with the KCC baseball program and 18th as head coach. In that time he's led the Bruins to nine Michigan Community College Athletic Association Conference Championships (including consecutive conference titles for the past six years); three state championships; five National Junior College Athletic Association Region XII Championships; and five appearances in the NJCAA Division II World Series, the latter including a second-place finish in 2007 and a third-place finish in 2022.

His coaching awards include six consecutive MCCAA Western Conference Coach of the Year honors; seven MCCAA Coach of the Year honors; five North Central District Coach of the Year honors; four Great Lakes Region Coach of the Year honors; five American Baseball Coaches Association Coach of the Year honors; and National Baseball DII Championship Coach of the Tournament honors in 2007.

Laskovy was also awarded a Starfish Award from the KCC Foundation in 2023, which is a student-nominated award recognizing a KCC employee who has played a significant role in a student's education at KCC.

KCC Athletic Director Drew Fleming said Laskovy has established a program for student athletes who are as impressive in the classroom as they are on the field, with his teams consistently maintaining a team grade-point average over 3.0, including 10 seasons in which his teams have earned NJCAA Academic All-American honors.

"The wins, the championships, the awards he's received are all so impressive and typically what gets the headlines, but his impact on our student athletes stretches far beyond the baseball field," Fleming said. "We are incredibly fortunate to have Coach Laskovy as a leader of our program and on our campus."

The Bruins host their first home game of the season March 21, when they'll face off against Marian University's Ancilla College at the Bruins' home MCCU Field at C.O. Brown Stadium in Battle Creek. The team will play more than a dozen home games at MCCU Field this season – all with free admission – before postseason play begins in early May.
