Bruins Committed D1 2022

Four Bruins Committed D1

The Kellogg Community College Baseball program has a rich history. They've won 14 MCCAA Conference Titles, 4 State titles, and made their appearance in the National Junior College Athletic Association World Series 8 times.

Head Coach Eric Laskovy focuses heavily on student-athlete development, both as a player and in the classroom. This philosophy has boded well for the Bruins – in the last 9 years, over 100 players have been recruited to play at the next level. Last year alone, Kellogg coaches helped place 17 players at NCAA D1, NCAA D2, and NAIA universities.

After a great fall practice season, the Bruins already have four players committed to play at the NCAA D1 level next school year:

Sean Knorr, a right handed pitcher from Ann Arbor, Mich. And Pioneer High School has committed to Central Michigan University. Coach Laskovy proudly stated, "Sean is a competitor that has as high of a ceiling as we've had here at Kellogg. He has the ability to command three pitches and is expected to anchor our staff this spring."

Sam Bassett-Kennedy, a left handed pitcher also from Ann Arbor, Mich. and Pioneer High School, has announced his commitment to Michigan State University. "Sam's a 6'7 left handed pitcher that commands both sides of the plate," noted Coach Laskovy. "He is a tireless worker with big upside. The sky's the limit for Sam!"

Kane Elmy, a right handed pitcher from Canton, Mich. and Plymouth High School has announced he will be attending Murray State University. Coach Laskovy is happy with the progress Kane has made at KCC saying, "Kane took a major step last fall in terms for growth and development. We couldn't be more proud of his process and leadership. Kane's a frontline guy with a very bright future!"

Aidan Arbogast, a 1st baseman and outfielder from Livonia, Mich. and Stevenson High School has committed to Eastern Michigan University. Coach Laskovy spoke highly of Arbogast stating, "Aidan joins us from Mid Michigan College where he was the 2022 MCCAA Western Conference Player of the Year, among many other accolades including NJCAA First Team All-American. He's a natural leader that does the things necessary to win every day. Aidan will have a massive presence in our lineup."

These commitments are the first of many for this year's squad. The team gets started with their in-season practices in January and kicks off the season on their annual spring trip in mid-February. On the docket for the spring trip 2023 are 7-time National Champions LSU Eunice (LA) and perennial powerhouses Wabash Valley CC (IL) and Murray State CC (OK).
