Men's Cross Qualifies for Nationals

The KCC Men's Cross Country Team ran at the Grand Rapids Community College Raider Invite on Friday, September 15. In the race, the team saw one new personal record, three individual national qualifiers, and team time that qualifies for nationals as well!

Freshman Zach Piercy went sub-30:00 (29:50) to individually qualify for the NJCAA DIII National Championship on November 11 in Huntsville, Alabama. Freshman Alex Steward also qualified for the national championship with an impressive 29:08. His time puts Alex 9th best in school history. Freshman Carson Lenzinger was the 3rd member qualifying for the national championship. His 28:18 time puts him with the 5th best time in program history.

Sophomore Brendan Wedding saw a PR for the 2nd race in a row. He shaved off 2 minutes, 45 seconds from his best 8K race from last year.

Coach Shaw said, "Today's best 5 KCC times from the men's race qualifies the men's team to represent KCC at the national championship as a team! Huge congratulations to them and it is even more impressive to qualify as a team in their first 8K race of the season. Congratulations to Zach, Alex and Carson on qualifying individually as well!"

The team's next race will be the SC4 Skipper Invite on Friday, September 29 in Marysville, Michigan.
