Bio

Coach Randy Ford enters his 6th season with the Bruins.  Overall, he has coached 31 seasons of collegiate baseball.  He started his collegiate coaching career spending 4 years as an assistant coach at Western Michigan University (WMU) before coaching at Penn State University for 16 years then returning to WMU to be their Head Coach for 6 years.

In 31 years of coaching, Ford has coached 5 players who have gone on to play in Major League Baseball. 2 of the 5 players were 1st round draft picks.  He has had the privilege to help a total of 85 players to go on to play professional baseball.

A native of Morenci, Michigan, Ford walked on to the Western Michigan University baseball team.  Ford compiled a career record of 17-4 (1977-1979) and a 2.91 ERA. He earned All-Mid American Conference First Team honors and All-District recongintion as a junior in 1979, registering an 8-0 record and 2.04 ERA. in 1979, Ford was selected in the 11th round of the major league draft by the Toronto Blue Jays.  In his 4-year professional career, Ford advanced as far as Double A baseball.

Ford graduated from WMU with a physical education degree with minors in biology and coaching.  He and his wife, Lynn, have 2 children and 4 grandchildren.
