Bio

Sal Konkle joined the KCC coaching staff late in the summer of 2022. A native of Marshall, Michigan, Konkle not only played varsity basketball for Marshall for 4 years she also returned to coach Marshall High School from 1999 – 2020. Konkle graduated from Alma College in 1986 with a BS degree majoring in Biology and minoring in Exercise Science. While at Alma she earned 12 varsity letters in 4 different sports. Following graduation she earned her teaching degree. In 1989 she began coaching basketball and softball at Albion College. In 1991 she became Associate Athletic Director at Albion and upon earning her MA in Athletic Administration she became the Athletic Director of Women’s Athletics. She served as AD and coached both basketball and softball at Albion from 1991-1995.

Konkle came back to Marshall High School and coached various sports at various levels including softball, basketball and golf at MHS from 1995-2020. As the head girls basketball coach at Marshall High School, her teams won 15 district titles, seven regional titles, and one state championship.

Konkle was inducted in the inaugural Marshall High School Athletic Hall of Fame as an athlete in 2019 and was inducted in the Alma College Athletic Hall of Fame as an athlete in 1996. She has also been inducted into Alma College Athletic Hall of Fame an additional six times as a member of an outstanding team. Konkle serves on the board of director’s for the Basketball Coaches Association of Michigan.

Konkle resides in Marshall, Mi with her husband of 35 years, Steve Konkle. The have four children, BJ, Ryan, Mitch and Jill and three daughters-in-law, including Coach Tierra Konkle. They also have three grandchildren.
